The Commanderie de Bordeaux (CdB) was organized in 2020 by Bordeaux wine lover, Elliott Slade. He is a member of a number of food and wine societies and a long-time member and officer of the New York City chapter of the CdB. Elliott wanted to maintain and celebrate the grand traditions of these fine clarets. He founded the Aspen Chapter of the Commanderie to establish a dining club in Aspen that promotes fine food and mature wines.

The Aspen Commanderie aspires to create unforgettable experiences, blending great Bordeaux with the best life has to offer in terms of fine food, engaging conversation, music and camaraderie. Our vision is to create a COMMUNITY of “kick-ass people” (a term coined by Eric Vogt) who like to dine together and share great food and wine.

The Aspen Chapter was approved to become one of the Chapters of the

Commanderie de Bordeaux (Cdb) aux États-Unis d’ Amérique. Today, the organization has 36 chapters and almost 1,300 members across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The Cdb is affiliated with a worldwide network of 82 Commanderies in 26 countries. All operate under the overall patronage of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux (GCVB) in Bordeaux, France.

We all share a passion for these wines and as members (“Commandeurs”), we become emissaries of the Bordeaux winemakers in the local community, with the goal of broadening the appreciation of the wines of Bordeaux in the U.S.

The Aspen Chapter hosts tastings and dinners promoting the educational aspect of Bordeaux wine in a fun and convivial manner!
